ADVC Seminar: The ABCs of SPC Use on Dairies to Improve Herd Performance
Instructors: Jeff Reneau, University of Minnesota, St. Paul, MN and Mark Kinsel, Agricultural Information Management, Ellensdale, WA
Date and Time: Tuesday, May 22, 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Course size limit: 45 people
Course fee: $150 for non-ADVC veterinarians (register through ADVC)

Some of the most difficult decisions when evaluating dairy herd data are determining when a change in performance is part of the normal variation of the herd or is truly a change. SPC (statistical process control) is an approach to herd monitoring that provides timely and accurate feedback to assist in herd management decisions. Using SPC to monitor performance has been available and used in a number of industries for decades, but until recently not readily available to the dairy industry. This presentation will cover the principles and practical application of SPC and provide participants with a broad range of SPC monitoring applications to be used on their client's farms.

[Note: this seminar is being held by the Academy of Dairy Veterinary Consultants (ADVC) and is open to non-ADVC veterinarians for an additional fee. For information and registration, contact Dale Moore at damoore@ucdavis.edu, (559) 688-1731 x217 or Bill Sischo at wmsischo@ucdavis.edu. NMC does not handle the registration for this seminar.]
