UC-Davis Professor Emeritus Jim Cullor offers African perspective

New Prague, MN (March 22, 2022) – “Rwanda: Building a One Health Sustainable Community Network” headlines the National Mastitis Council’s (NMC) next webinar, set for April 19, starting at 2 p.m. Central time. This free, one-hour educational offering features Jim Cullor, University of California-Davis School of Veterinary Medicine professor emeritus in the department of population health and reproduction.

The April 19 webinar will include a discussion of how Cullor’s team developed a “One Health Sustainable Community Network” in the Kingi Farm District of Rwanda, Africa. This network focuses on animal health and well-being, human health, ecosystem health and the economic well-being of the community. The crucial building blocks are based on milk quality, mastitis detection, prevention and treatment, and food safety. The framework used is the Agricultural Dynamic Management program, which Cullor will discuss during the NMC webinar.

The April 19 webinar’s learning objectives include:

  • How to build a One Health Sustainable Community Network
  • How to establish and maintain a sustainable on-farm training program
  • How to create and document on-farm animal health and well-being, public health, ecosystem health and economic well-being

Cullor earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Kansas State University. He spent two years practicing veterinary medicine in a mixed animal practice. Next, he completed his food animal residency at UC-Davis and then a doctorate degree in comparative pathology.
