Each NMC Annual Meeting General Session focuses on a milk quality-related topic, including milking machines, milk quality around the world, milk quality in high-throughput systems, heifer mastitis and evolving topics in mastitis. Plus, 10 graduate students will present their research during the Research and Development Summaries Session, being held the afternoon of Jan. 29 (concurrently with the milk quality around the world and milk quality in high throughput systems sessions).
Additionally, the NMC Annual Meeting offers 16 Short Courses, which provide a classroom setting and small group learning experiences. Due to their popularity, most NMC Short Courses fill quickly, so register soon.
Furthermore, the NMC Annual Meeting offers an optional Dairy Farm Tour. Participants will visit Rocky Creek Dairy, Olin, N.C., which includes 1,400 cows and 1,250 heifers. The cows are milked in a double-16 parallel parlor and have a rolling herd average of 31,200 pounds of milk with 3.6 percent fat. Also, guests will visit Grayhouse Dairy, Statesville, N.C., a 1,100-cow dairy that uses sand bedding. The Gray family places a high emphasis on soil and water conservation and community education. In 2022, Grayhouse Farms earned the U.S. Dairy Sustainability award.
