NMC Committees

NMC Committees and task forces play a major role in NMC’s organization, providing the forum to evaluate issues and make recommendations to the Executive Committee and Board of Directors on issues related to cow mastitis. Committee chairs and members generally are elected for a three-year term and are eligible to serve a maximum of two consecutive terms.

ANNUAL MEETING PROGRAM COMMITTEE

Develops an annual meeting program that delivers current, technically sound information that has a positive impact on mastitis management and milk quality.

MACHINE MILKING COMMITTEE 

Evaluates technical and scientific issues related to milking management, equipment, and procedures.

Chair: Matt Gough, DeLaval

MEMBERSHIP AND ADVANCEMENT COMMITTEE 

Develops and implements a marketing plan to attract new members, build continuing interest in NMC, and create a clear understanding of the organization and its goals.

MILK QUALITY MONITORING COMMITTEE

Gathers and communicates information on milk quality standards, guidelines, and achievements, and the means used to monitor and measure milk quality.

Chair: Jason Lombard, Colorado State University

NOMINATING COMMITTEE

Prepares a list of eligible nominees for the Board of Directors and Officers for presentation at the annual meeting. Comprised of past presidents with the most recent past president serving as chair for a year following their presidency.

RESEARCH COMMITTEE

Develops and evaluates mastitis control and milk quality information from a scientific perspective and reviews NMC educational materials for scientific accuracy.

TEAT HEALTH COMMITTEE

Provides practical guidance across the dairy industry on issues concerning teat condition and its interaction with udder health.

INTERNATIONAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE

Assists NMC in being a global organization.

ANTIMICROBIAL STEWARDSHIP COMMITTEE

Evaluates and recommends practical evidence-based guidance on judicious use of antimicrobials, emphasizing the health and welfare of dairy cattle and safeguarding human health and ecosystems.
